Talking about addiction with children can be difficult. This clip is a great starting point.

Traditionally we have tried to steer kids away from addiction by frightening them. Perhaps a more useful approach is to talk about the way our bodies and mind respond to addicting stimuli like drugs, alcohol, gambling, gaming, pornography, etc. This short animated film is a great jump-off point for a discussion in a class or at home with your own kids.
